Description

Looking for a relaxed and friendly way to practise your Spanish on a Friday evening?

Join us for our weekly social evening designed for Spanish learners and speakers who want to practise, meet new people, and ease into the weekend in a warm, informal setting.

From 6pm, the bar opens with Happy Hour cocktails (6–8pm) and a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Vicky, our manager from Argentina, will be there hosting the early part of the evening, helping people settle in, introducing others where helpful, and offering light conversation prompts for anyone who wants a bit of structure to get started.

This is not a class and not a performance, just a relaxed space where Spanish learners (mostly beginner to intermediate) can practise speaking without pressure, at their own pace. As more people arrive, conversations develop naturally, and groups shift organically throughout the evening.

Alongside conversation, you can enjoy:

  • Half-price cocktails during Happy Hour
  • Wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee and tea
  • A friendly, social bar atmosphere

Later in the evening, the centre also hosts a free salsa taster, which many guests enjoy staying for - whether to dance or simply soak up the Friday-night energy.

Who is it for?

  • Spanish learners of all levels (especially beginners & intermediates)
  • Anyone curious to practise speaking Spanish socially
  • People coming alone or with friends are both very welcome

What to expect

  • A relaxed, low-pressure environment
  • Light hosting and gentle introductions early on
  • Spanish conversation at your own rhythm
  • A growing, friendly community

We ask for a £5 advance ticket, which includes one drink [Wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee and tea]. This helps us plan ahead and keep the evening running smoothly.

If you’re looking for a laid-back, friendly way to practise Spanish and meet people, this is for you.

What People Have to Say

Since I discovered Battersea Spanish dance classes, my life has changed. All through lockdown and the stresses of work I have found the daily classes invigorating and life affirming. Not only is my body in a much better place, but so is my mental health. The lovely nature of all the teachers and engaging music and choreography makes it a wonderful thing to look forward to in the evening. I would recommend them to anyone.

I can't speak more highly of Battersea Spanish. I discovered it when I saw their Latin fitness classes advertised and was eager to get fit and tone up. I'm now doing one of their beginners' Spanish classes. You always get a warm welcome at Battersea Spanish whether it's from the teachers and bar staff, other students. It's a really cosy venue with a very supportive environment whether you're dancing or learning Spanish. The language courses are well structured and lots of fun - plenty of opportunities to practice Spanish outside of class too - games, books you can borrow, quiz and film nights, and conversation evenings. It's a place you can easily make new friends - people actually talk to each other and strike up conversations. For me it feels like a home from home.
