Cultural immersion days for secondary schools

Battersea Spanish is an award-winning cultural hub for Spanish and Latin American learning experiences. Based in Battersea in South London, we are well-known providers of Spanish and Flamenco courses, social events, professional dance and music performances, and cultural activities all related to the Spanish-speaking world. 

We offer a unique service specifically for Secondary Schools - half-day or full-day cultural immersion programmes, delivering a taste of authentic Spanish and Latin American culture to the Spanish-lovers of the future!

These programmes are extremely popular with schools looking to boost the profile of the most popular foreign language taught in UK schools, as well as those looking for cheaper alternatives to sending students on expensive field trips to Spain or further afield.

Our programmes are highly flexible, and are customised to create the perfect day for every school.

We accept groups from 30-70 students, from Year 8 to year 13. Most of our visiting schools choose to do either 4 different activities (for 1 day programmes) or 2 different activities in a half-day programme (which can be morning or afternoon)

Some of the amazing activities you can select include :

  • Introduction to Flamenco with professional Flamenco performers
  • Salsa for beginners with our irrespressible Cuban instructor
  • Spanish restaurant role plays with Latin American teachers in our real tapas restaurant
  • Collaborative role plays such as the Detective Challenge or the Fiesta Project
  • Speaking confidence games and activities (world quest, culture clash, quizzes/games etc)

We regularly welcome secondary schools from both the State and Independent sector, and from as close as West London to as far away as North Wales. Students range from Year 8's who may have never been to Spain or Latin America, to year 12 or 13 students looking for authentic speaking practice on complex subjects outside the normal classroom environment.
