Details

There will be a 1-week break during our Flamenco Autumn term, from 2nd-8th November. During that period, lessons will be paused.

Flamenco Elementary Level is suitable for anyone wants to challenge themselves after completing our Beginner Level.

In this 12- week course (12 weekly sessions of 1.5 hours each) you will focus on building footwork and bodywork technique, understanding base steps and how they fit into the rhythm. Special attention is paid to rhythm and learning how the different elements of flamenco fit together, as well as learning a short choreography each term.

Please note that Elementary Level requires flamenco shoes (and a skirt if you wish to wear one).

Sign up for one of our level courses, and get 40% off the Technique course! This offer is automatically applied at checkout.

The levels offered at Battersea Spanish from January 2026 are as follows:

Beginner: For those who are just starting out, have danced Flamenco a long time ago or have good relevant experience with other comparable types of dance.

Elementary: For individuals who have surpassed Beginner level, and are now looking to really spread their Flamenco wings.

Improver: For strong and committed dancers who are past Elementary level and are on their way to intermediate level - or even higher.

Technique: For students who wish to work specifically on the technical side of flamenco more than choreography - highly recommended for anyone who is serious about trying to improve their overall ability.

Level progression: Our students will typically complete each level 3 times on average before moving onto the next level - but you will always continue to learn and polish your moves. Progress is very individual, and the most important thing is to enjoy the process at your own speed of development. Once they know you, our experienced instructors will be able to tell you which level you should book in the future to continue your studies with us.

Before you book

What happens if I miss a lesson?

If you miss a class, we may be able to offer you a spot in another group at the same level, running that same week. This depends on availability and can’t always be guaranteed, but we’ll do our best!

How do I know which level is right for me?

Not sure of your level? Drop us an email if you're unsure.

What if I feel the level is too easy or difficult for me?

If, after the first lesson, you feel you need to move to a different level, get in touch and we'll see what we can do. Depending on availability, we might be able to move you to up or down a level. We can't guarantee that the group you move to will be on the same day of the week as your old group.

What happens if I can't attend the course after booking?

Once you have registered and the course has been confirmed, we are unable to offer refunds for non-participation or non-attendance, for any reason.

However, we require a minimum number of registrations to launch each course of Flamenco. Therefore, if we do not reach this minimum number shortly before the scheduled start date, the class will either be postponed (by up to two weeks), or will be cancelled (with a full refund offered). If another group is running at the same level but a different time, this will be offered to you.
