We regularly screen amazing Spanish or Latin American films (with English subtitles, no worries!) in one of our performance studios.

You can even start your evening with a meal of delicious Spanish tapas and a drink in our very own on-site Latin wine barLa Bodega or take it in with you into our pequeño cinemawhich now has candle-lit tables set up, allowing you to eat as you enjoy the film.

Watching a movie in Spanish is a fantastic way to listen to, and unconsciously absorb, authentic language. Our programme of curated movies from across the Spanish-speaking world helps to understand more about the unique cultures, histories and landscapes of this vast region.

How does this work?

The film starts at 8pm, and our bar is open from 5.30pm so you can both eat and drink while watching the film.

Our film nights are ticketless events - we have a guestlist! We do not send physical or digital tickets for these events, so once you have booked you will receive a confirmation email only. Once you arrive for the screening, please approach the bar to let us know of your arrival.

Notes on venue and seating arrangements

All our films are shown in our ground-floor Performance Studio, which is accessible for wheelchair users. The studio is not a cinema, but provides a small and intimate venue with seating for a maximum of 50 people (on film nights), within a cultural centre dedicated to the Spanish and Latin American world. As this is a multi-use performance space, there is no raised stage or tiered seating. Seating is arranged flexibly on the day, with armless chairs laid out in rows to best suit the number who have booked to attend, alongside some small tables to accommodate for those who wish to eat simple tapas while watching. Please refer to the photo of the layout on our website listing for this event.

Seats are not numbered or pre-allocated. We can only reserve seating for those who notify us in advance that they have a disability or require a special seat. Once we open the doors to the Studio, the audience enters in a queue and then everybody finds their preferred seat from those available - please, however, be sympathetic and considerate of those with the greatest need to have a seat nearer the front.

Eat and Drink too!

Drinks

Entrance to the venue is via our on-site Tapas Bar, La Bodega, which will be open from 5.30pm to 11pm (last orders for food at 9pm and drinks at 10.30) . We serve a wide range of wines, beers, spirits and cocktails from across Spain and Latin America, as well as soft drinks.

Food

Our event nights, including film nights, are very popular, and we are often fully booked for table reservations in our bar. As a result, reservations are only accepted for those ordering food.

Details of our menu can be found here: https://batterseaspanish.com/la-bodega. All food and drinks must be ordered at the bar, and your Tapas is then cooked in front of you, and served as soon as each dish is ready. Please allow 20-60 minutes for your food to be prepared, depending on how busy we are.

All tables in our bar accommodate 4 to 6 persons (plus one big table for 12). If there are less than 4 in your party, you will be asked to share a table on busy nights.

Note on payments - our bar is cashless, so all food and drink purchases must be paid by card.

Important Notice – we would love you to book with us, but please make sure that you will be free to attend the course/activity you are booking. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund fees paid, in full or in part, or to re-allocate them to another booking or a different date. This condition applies to all our courses and our events, for any reason other than force majeure, or our failure to deliver the course/activity we publicised - in which case you will be refunded in full. Details of our full Terms and Conditions are found on the page prior to checkout– please read them carefully, to avoid any disappointment.

The facility is lovely. Cute Tapas bar with an adjacent separate facility where movies are shown. The venue is located off the main road, behind the Tesco (Shop) embedded within a housing estate. It is a lovely idea to combine food and film!

This venue is an absolute gem. Firstly a visit to the tapas bar ‘La Bodega’ is an absolute must. Best to get there early as it gets quite busy. The seafood tapas was to die for, which we washed down with Sangria! We loved the film, shown in a small, intimate theatre, which was absolutely fine. Really looking forward to visiting this place again.

We saw a fascinating film, very beautifully shot. Great to have context introduction by member of Battersea Spanish team and a suggestion to sit near front to be able to see subtitles. Great venue with lovely staff and fab food and drink.

Before the film, join us in our very own tapas bar, serving authentic Spanish Tapas and drinks from across Spain and Latin America.

What people have to say

This is by far the best Spanish school I have ever attended! It's an amazing place where to immerse yourself completely in the language and culture through a great range of events and social activities: the cine club, book club, dance classes, just to name a few. The teachers are amazing and so is the Director; they all work extremely hard to make you feel part of this big family and to create the friendly and fun atmosphere that makes this school so special.

So if you're looking for a Spanish school, look no further! You'll learn lots while having fun!

The staff at La Bodega were very friendly, giving me some nice tapas with my white wine! The film was great, very funny and I learnt one phrase, 'tranquilo, cabron' which I used on the car journey back and seemingly went down well with the lovely people in the traffic jams of London town.
