Intermediate 2 Spanish Course (B1.2)

Learning Spanish with a glass of Rioja in hand and salsa music in the background — welcome to Battersea Spanish.

At this level, you’re done with just surviving in Spanish — now it’s about adding depth and flair. Whether you're chatting with friends, writing emails, or sharing opinions, you'll start to sound less like a textbook and more like you — in Spanish.

🗓️ Summer Term Starts 23rd June!

Our full course timetable is dropping soon — but here’s what to expect from our Intermediate 2 course:

🧠 What you’ll learn in Intermediate 2:

Designed for students with 100+ hours of Spanish study (or who’ve completed Intermediate 1), this course dives deeper into grammar and style, helping you move from direct statements to subtle, expressive communication.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Use the present subjunctive to express wishes, desires, and needs
  • Express emotions and opinions with the subjunctive
  • Talk about future possibilities and hopes using the subjunctive
  • Use the subjunctive to show doubt, judgement, and subjectivity (e.g., no creo que…, me parece que…)
  • Incorporate richer connectors and complex structures for more fluid, natural speech

By the end, you’ll be communicating with more nuance — and sounding more like a native every day.

🥂 Not just a class... an experience

At Battersea Spanish, learning doesn’t stop when the lesson ends.

  • Grab a glass of Spanish wine or beer from our on-site bar before or after class
  • Share some great Tapas with your classmates (Wed–Fri only)
  • Join our social Spanish events, tango, salsa & flamenco classes, or amazing Flamenco shows
  • Watch Spanish-language films at our regular cinema club
  • Play games like Scrabble en español or “¿Quién es quién?” with other learners
  • Practice in real life, not just in your textbook

What people have to say

I was quite apprehensive at first to start a language course but the team at Battersea Spanish are so welcoming and the other students on the course are great! The classes themselves are superb and the teachers very knowledgeable with great senses of humour, which makes the classes entertaining as well as very informative. Superb atmosphere, superb value and so so much fun. Can't recommend highly enough. Try it!

I can't speak more highly of Battersea Spanish. I discovered it when I saw their Latin fitness classes advertised and was eager to get fit and tone up. I'm now doing one of their beginners' Spanish classes. You always get a warm welcome at Battersea Spanish whether it's from the teachers and bar staff, other students. It's a really cosy venue with a very supportive environment whether you're dancing or learning Spanish. The language courses are well structured and lots of fun - plenty of opportunities to practice Spanish outside of class too - games, books you can borrow, quiz and film nights, and conversation evenings. It's a place you can easily make new friends - people actually talk to each other and strike up conversations. For me it feels like a home from home.
