Join one of London's top Flamenco schools to learn with a team of very experienced instructors in a warm and supportive dance community, and see yourself progress all the way from complete beginner to advanced.
Flamenco is a dynamic and empowering style of dance, made up of influences from cultures all over the world which came together in Andalucia, Spain and is in constant evolution. Dancing flamenco is learning to move with beauty and strength, making music with your footwork and channelling your emotions to find your personal expression.
At Battersea Spanish you will study with 2 different teachers, Lourdes and Carlos, who share the teaching duties in order to give you exposure to both male and female instructors, as well as greater variety in approaching the steps and movements and personal styles.
Flamenco Elementary Level is suitable for anyone wants to challenge themselves after completing our Beginner Level. In this 12 - week course (12 weekly sessions of 1.5 hours each) you will focus on building footwork and bodywork technique, understanding base steps and how they fit into the rhythm. Special attention is paid to rhythm and learning how the different elements of flamenco fit together, as well as learning a short choreography each term.
The levels offered at Battersea Spanish are as follows:
Foundation - for those who have not studied Flamenco before or find it challenging to master the basics and want more practice
Beginner - for those who have completed Foundation level, or danced Flamenco a long time ago, or have good relevant experience with other comparable types of dance
Elementary - for those who have surpassed Foundation and Beginner levels, and are now looking to really spread their Flamenco wings
Improvers - for strong and committed dancers who are past Elementary level and are on their way to intermediate level - or even higher
Each level will run 4 times per year, and where possible we will offer continuity of days/times from one term to the next, although this depends on bookings and is not guaranteed.
Level progression: Apart from Foundation Level, our students will typically complete each level 3 times on average before moving onto the next level - but you will always continue to learn and polish your moves. Progress is very individual, and the most important thing is to enjoy the process at your own speed of development. Once they know you, our experienced instructors will be able to tell you which level you should book in the future to continue your studies with us.
Please note :
Once you have registered and the course has been confirmed, we are unable to offer refunds for non-participation or non-attendance, for any reason. However, we require 6 confirmed registrations to launch each course of Flamenco. Therefore, if we do not reach this minimum number shortly before the scheduled start date, the class will either be postponed (by up to two weeks), or will be cancelled (with a full refund offered). If another group is running at the same level but a different time, this will be offered to you.
