Coffee & Spanish Conversation Morning

Come and join our Coffee & Spanish Conversation Mornings!

These are informal, non-structured get-togethers for everybody who loves speaking Spanish away from the classroom - from the very rusty, to the just-returned-from-South America! The events are open equally to those who are already enrolled on courses with us as well as those who want to get to know our Spanish language and cultural centre for the first time.

Topics of conversation are generated by the participants who come on the day, and there are no teachers present, so whilst we have speaking prompts available to start conversations the aim is for the conversation to flow organically from the interests of those who participate. The event lasts as long as everybody wants to stay - generally this is for 1 to 2 hrs, but there are no restrictions.

We never know exactly how many people will come each week, but most weeks we get 15-25 people, so its a great way to meet other members of our wider community. These sessions represent a great opportunity for Spanish speakers of all levels to share their passion for the language and culture with like-minded enthusiasts. It also provides the opportunity to practice speaking and listening skills in a safe, relaxed and fun setting, getting to know new friends along the way.

Whilst chatting in Spanish you can enjoy a free cup of delicious Colombian coffee (or any of our speciality teas), which is included in the ticket price. Croissant and pastries are sold separately. .

All sessions take place in our in-house Spanish wine bar, La Bodega, where our community of local Spanish-speakers and learners mingle. Our bar team will be on hand to welcome anybody who comes on their own, and will set you up to get the conversation started. The aim is to improve your fluency in Spanish, and effective communication is the focus - so don't worry about grammar!

All levels are welcome, although the event is not ideal for total beginners as a minimum ability to communicate makes participation easier! As you arrive you will be asked a few questions in Spanish to ascertain your level, and will be introduced to others of a similar level to yours. Please note that if there is low attendance the groups may comprise quite a wide variety of levels - just as it would if you were meeting new friends in Spain!

Please note - 1 coffee (of any kind, including teas etc) is included in the entrance ticket price. We sell croissant and pastries at the bar, and tapas dishes are available for lunch for those who want to continue chatting.

Unfortunately, we are unable to refund fees paid, in full or in part, or to re-allocate them to another booking or a different date. This condition applies to all our courses and our events, for any reason other than force majeure, or our failure to deliver the course/activity we publicised - in which case you will be refunded in full.
