Event Description

Come to La Unit one Friday a month to have a memorable and unique film experience. We will be waiting for you with delicious food matching the country of the film and refreshing drinks to enjoy a cinematic experience in the heart of Battersea.

This December 8th come see “El ángel exterminador”, the 1962 black-and-white surrealist comedy by Luis Buñuel. Guests attend a dinner party at the house of Señor Edmundo Nóbile, but unexpectedly they find that they cannot leave. Strange things begin to happen, and the guests become increasingly distressed.

To celebrate this classic dinner party film, we will have a dinner party of our own at Battersea Spanish. As our invited guests, you will enjoy a three-course Spanish meal before the movie. Please specify if you are vegetarian when ordering so we can cater to your needs.

The flow of the night:
– Doors open 6:30pm
– Dinner is served between 7-8pm
– Film introduction at 8pm
– Film will start 8:15pm (there will be a 15 minute intermission in the middle of the film)
– The screening will end near 10.30pm (depending the length of the film) but we welcome you to stay in our lovely venue to exchange impressions and get to know the lovely people who come to our events.

The films all have English subtitles, so everyone can join!

This is an intimate and exclusive arrangement. Hurry up and secure a seat!

Twelve years ago I left my home country, Costa Rica, to study a Masters Degree in Denmark. It was in Copenhagen that I discovered my passion for teaching my mother tongue. I put ads all over the city and started to teach Spanish as a way to support my studies. I kept teaching after my master ended, and continued to do so in the countries and cities where I lived: Boston, Stockholm and now London. In Boston, I joined The Graduate School of Education at Harvard University to strengthen my knowledge about effective teaching and learning, and here in London I complemented these studies with a graduate course from Goldsmiths University and Instituto Cervantes. I love film, literature and writing. I have short stories published both in Spanish and English.
