Journey Itinerary (No Passport Needed):

6.00pm: Start your journey to Latin America without ever having to leave London and join us at the Doodle Bar for some tropical Mexican drinks and sounds.

7.15pm:  Screening in Spanish with English subtitles of award-winning film, Como Agua Para Chocolate, (Like Water For Chocolate).

SYNOPSIS: Based on the best-selling novel by Laura Esquival, this internationally popular romantic fable from Mexico centers on a young woman, Tita, who discovers that her cooking has magical effects. As the youngest daughter in her family, she is forbidden to marry her true love, Pedro. Since tradition dictates that Tita must care for her mother, Pedro weds her older sister, Rosaura, though he still loves Tita. The situation creates much tension in the family and Tita’s powerful emotions begin to surface in fantastical ways through her cooking. As the years pass, unusual circumstances test the enduring love of Pedro and Tita.

Treats for the trip: Tita’s effects are such that Mexican food truck Tamal will be serving up delicious dishes to compliment the magical and surreal world of Tita, Rosaura and Pedro….hmm, what a tasty stop-over! (see below for full menu)

9.30 pm: Following the film, the one and only Laura Esquivel, Mexican author and screenwriter of Como Agua Para Chocolate will be joining us via Skype for an exclusive Q&A session with all of you! This is a wonderful and unique opportunity to share your thoughts and questions with one of Mexico’s most exciting writers and thinkers of our times! Not to be missed!

¡Que viva!
