Event Description

Come to La Unit one Friday a month to have a memorable and unique film experience. We will be waiting for you with delicious food matching the country of the film, refreshing drinks, and delicious popcorn on the house to enjoy a cinematic experience in the heart of Battersea.

This July 12th come see a classic and spicy Spanish film: Jamón, Jamón, the movie where legendary couple Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz met. Spanish filmmaker Bigas Luna directed this comedy/drama almost three decades ago, but its aesthetic value, and the juxtaposition of old and new Spain, continue to be as relevant and inviting today. The colours, the acting, and yes, the sexy scenes, make for a fabulous summer flick!

We will enjoy a delicious Tapas platter before the film in our beautiful garden area.

The flow of the night:
– Doors open 7pm
– Spanish tapas platter will be served between 7-8pm
– Film introduction at 8.00pm
– Film will start 8.20pm
– The screening will end near 11.00pm (depending the length of the film) but we welcome you to stay in our lovely garden to exchange impressions and get to know the lovely people who come to our events.

Films are with English subtitles, so all can join!

This is an intimate and exclusive arrangement. Hurry up and secure a seat!

If you are a Battersea Spanish member, remember to use your special members discount!

Frequently Asked Questions

Luis Edoardo Torres

edoardo¡Hola! My name is Luis Edoardo, and I was born in Nuevo Laredo Mexico, in the frontier with the US. I have always been an enthusiastic reader, writer and educator. I started writing poetry and plays because I wanted to be like Federico García Lorca one day. For 10 years I collaborated with a literary magazine and had the opportunity to meet and learn from many great Latin American writers. My plays have been published in different anthologies, staged several times and translated to English and German. I have also been teaching Spanish and literature to young people and adults for over 6 years, both in Mexico and the UK. These experiences motivated me to study for a master’s degree in Education of the Arts in Roehampton University. Some of my best professional experiences have been working in the Centre for the promotion of Literature, “Estación Palabra-Gabriel García Márquez” and being the coordinator of our very popular monthly Spanish Book Club where I can share my two passions: teaching and literature. I am also the Director of the prestigious and innovative Taller de Escritura Creativa en Español at Battersea Spanish. ¡Nos vemos pronto en persona!
