After a sold out session in 2018, we return in the new year with one more incredibly exciting Flamenco Life Drawing event, this time dedicated to the topic of COLOUR.
Visual artist and flamenco dancer Carlos Otero will guide you through different exercises that will help you bring to live the vibrant and sensual palette of colours that make the universe of flamenco.
The materials will be a combination of primary acrylics and coloured pencils and the focus will be in experimenting with limited palettes. Limitations bring out creativity; this is the main idea behind the approach of the session. Participants will be encouraged to find ways to create secondary colours with the basics in order to start building personal methods. There will also be a discussion of some colour theories including the ‘impressionists’, in order to inspire creative ideas.
The stages of the event are:
1. The first exercise includes 3 short poses with 3 different limited palettes: The first will be basic primaries, the second a choice between warm or cold, and the third will be based on a colour choice.
2. This step will allow to build on a favourite experiment from previous exercise to take on a longer pose.
3. Again, building on the previous experiment, the last exercise involves a 45-minute pose looking at ways of recreating colours in life poses.
4. A final gathering at the end where you will mingle and enjoy the final pieces of everyone attending.
Battersea Spanish will provide basic materials, but please feel free to bring your own. Remember as well there is a tasty glass of wine included in the price!
The event will be conducted in English so everyone is welcome to join. We welcome participants who are experienced, and also new to the field. This is an exclusive arrangement with limited capacity, please book now to avoid disappointment.
