Event Description

Battersea Spanish and its Flamenco Programme is proud to collaborate on a series of special flamenco workshops led in our studio by world-renown artist Maria Vega. One Sunday per month flamenco students of all levels can treat themselves to a one of a kind learning experience.

About the Open Flamenco Workshop – The intensive workshops series-

“The aim of this project is to give both face to face and free online quality content about Flamenco and Spanish dance for all levels of expertise. I truly believe in sharing knowledge, spreading the love for what I do and creating an open Flamenco community, both as a teacher and a performer”.

The intensive workshops will de be dedicated every month to a different theme.

You will enjoy a comprehensive flamenco class, exploring technique and choreography including footwork, hips, shoulders, arms and hands movement, clapping on flamenco rhythm, choreography and a special focus on truly understanding the different flamenco styles (“palos del flamenco”).


The levels on offer are:

  • BEGINNERS: 10-11 A.M
  • INTERMEDIATE: 11 A.M-12:30 P.M

Maria Vega

Maria Vega DancerDancer and choreographer born in Madrid. She completed her Spanish dance and Flamenco studies in the Royal Professional Dance Conservatory in Madrid with the highest overall grade. She also studied in the renowned Flamenco studio “Amor de Dios” in Madrid with great Flamenco masters such as Merche Esmeralda, Blanca del Rey, Belén Maya, Lola Greco or Rafaela Carrasco, as well as completing her contemporary dance and classic ballet studies.  2016 has seen the start of her first London based company, Maria Vega Dance Company. She has created “A Dancer’s Journey”, a live flamenco and contemporary show featuring nine internationally renowned artists on stage.
