Event Description

Lourdes Fernández and her Company present “Raíces”, a unique Flamenco show that brings together the roots and influences that make this dance possible: jazz, folk, Andalusian coplas and more. Five exceptional artists come together to bring you a tantalising and memorable feast of rhythms and dance, that will leave you wanting to dig deeper into the history and evolution of this beautiful and complex dance.

This event is part of our Flamenco Salon Series, that brings hand picked Flamenco or Flamenco inspired pieces, conversations, installations, to an intimate audience keen to appreciate the best of Flamenco in London.

The flow of the event:
7:00pm: doors open
7:30pm: show starts
(the show runs for approximately 90 minutes with an intermission of 20 minutes).

The artists:

Lourdes Fernández – Dance
Lourdes began to dance at the age of five. From that moment all her life unfolded through the learning of flamenco. She studied dance at the Conservatory of Madrid, has a degree at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid and completed a Masters in Performing Arts at the same university. She has performed in renown venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Union Chapel, The Forge and Richmix. In addition, Lourdes has attended different festivals around United Kingdom like City of London Festival, Jazz Festival of Birmingham and Brighton Festival.  Lourdes is constantly looking to develop new forms of expression to enrich the language of Flamenco.

Adrián Solá – Guitar
Adrián is a flamenco guitarist from Barcelona. He studied music theory and flute at the School of Modern Music in Barcelona as well as flamenco guitar with maestros Zsolt Hernandi and Rafael Canizares. He is an established flamenco accompanist in London. Whether it’s in an ensemble or as a soloist Adrián is a versatile and adaptable musician, he plays flamenco master pieces as well as his own compositions with gusto.

Mónica García – Cante
Mónica became passionately involved in flamenco at an early  age, growing up in “Frailes” a small village at the south of the town of  Jaén, where the best olive oil in the world and the Andalusian zephir from their mountains nurtured her voice. Mónica was a prominent student at “Locura Flamenca” academy, later becoming involved in traditional and modern dance and music groups, that’s how, albeit her young age, this soulful singer will surprise and delight flamenco aficionados and neophytes alike. A new found treasure for the U.K. flamenco scene.
