Battersea Spanish brings you a unique Life Drawing event curated by flamenco performer and visual artist Juan Carlos Otero.
Bringing flamenco elements into the life drawing arena will create a colourful, rich and tantalising experience that will allow complete beginners and experienced artists to capture into the paper one of the most visually striking dances.
This Life Drawing event provides an introduction to drawing the figure and will build your confidence and skill in drawing the human form from observation.
We will look at the building blocks of drawing, exploring line, tone, composition and personal expression, drawing from life and arranging the models with props, costumes and poses that follow flamenco styles and themes. Participants will be engaged in a discussion about the possible meanings, symbols and expressions of each pose and arrangement.
We will talk as well about the fascination with the figure in art and explore why it is still so important today. Taking flamenco as a inspirational starting point we will look at how its history and mythology has developed in visual art through the work of Ignacio Zuloaga, Francisco de Goya and Julio Romero de Torres.
By the end of this wonderful event you will be confident in using technical language to discuss and impart opinions as well as engaging with further experiments in drawing and painting.
The event includes two hours with the curator and two models, and a 30-minute space at the end where you will mingle and enjoy the final pieces of everyone attending. The event will be conducted in English so everyone is welcome to join.
Materials are included in the price (you are welcome to bring your own), and a complimentary glass of wine, of course!
This is an exclusive arrangement with limited capacity, book now to avoid disappointment.
