Sevillanas are a folkloric Andalusian style of Flamenco dance, danced at ferias/festivals all over Andalusia and have been popularised throughout Spain. We will be teaching 4 Sevillanas and this course will focus on the last two. The first two were taught in a previous course. If you missed it, you can still join and learn these two sevillanas! With this in mind after the course ends there will be a school trip to visit Andalusia during the Ferias to take part and show off your newly learned Sevillanas skills!
In this course, you will focus on the last two Sevillanas, and you will learn:
- The steps of each sevillana
- To work on body, arms and hand coordination
- To develop your own style and character
The course is 8 classes that last a duration of 60 minutes. For those who may have missed a class or are looking to brush up on their techniques at home, video tutorials specific to your class will be available on a weekly basis.
While Flamenco shoes are recommended, please do not worry if you are still yet to acquire any. Just make sure your shoes are comfortable and durable enough to protect your ankles (and no rubber soles!). For the ladies, if you have a Flamenco skirt, please bring it along! Whilst it also compliments the full Flamenca outfit, it gives you a brilliant chance to begin learning the moves, skirt in hand. Over the duration of the course, it is advisory that the appropriate footwear and garments are purchased to increase the authenticity of your learning process.
