Flamenco as an art form oozes passion and seductiveness. Originating in Andalucia, Spain, it has been danced for nearly 500 years, retaining all of its beauty and tradition throughout. This online flamenco course means that you can enjoy this learning journey from anywhere in the world!
If you have recently completed our Introduction to Flamenco Class or have already had a basic exposure to the dance, then come and join our flamenco for beginners family!
In this 8-week course (with sessions of 1 hr), you will:
- Focus on refining any already established skills in a fun and welcoming environment.
- Mingle with other beginners and make new friends.
- Develop your footwork. Footwork will be adapted as we understand not everyone has neighbours who love flamenco as much as you do! Video tutorials will be provided to allow you to work on footwork on your own time.
While Flamenco shoes are recommended, please do not worry if you are still yet to acquire any. Just make sure your shoes are comfortable and durable enough to protect your ankles. For the ladies, if you have a Flamenco skirt, please wear it! Whilst it also compliments the full Flamenca outfit, it gives you a brilliant chance to begin learning the moves, skirt in hand. Over the duration of the course, it is advisory that the appropriate footwear and garments are purchased to increase the authenticity of your learning process.
For those who may have missed a class or are looking to brush up on their techniques at home, video tutorials specific to your class will be available on a weekly basis.
Please be aware, it is very common to complete a level three times before progressing to the next. Everybody learns at their own pace and we wish to accommodate that as best as possible so your teacher will only assess you when you are ready to advance.
These classes will be taught online using the learning platform Zoom (you need a good internet connection and a computer with camera). A link will be sent for you to join the virtual classroom. It's all very easy, and the good news is that you can join us from anywhere in the world! (UK time for lessons).
