7pm: Before you know it, you’ve landed and find yourself in Andalucía. Incredible flamenco artists Ulises Díaz-Ropero and Jorge Bravo bring us the rolling sounds of Spain for a unique performance.

8pm:  Find your seat, sit back and relax for the screening of Julieta, by Pedro Almodóvar (Film will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles)

SYNOPSIS: Julieta lives in Madrid with her daughter Antía. They both suffer in silence over the loss of Xoan, Antía’s father and Julieta’s husband. But at times grief doesn’t bring people closer, it drives them apart. When Antía turns eighteen she abandons her mother, without a word of explanation. Julieta looks for her in every possible way, but all she discovers is how little she knows of her daughter.

Following a year out in Central America during my Politics and Spanish degree, I fell hook line and sinker for all things Latin American and promised myself I would return to the continent. In 2008, I moved to South America as a journalist and embarked upon a seven year adventure that took me to the deepest depths of the Amazon, the dizzying heights of the Rio slums and to the wild white beaches of the Caribbean. After many years of life abroad, I returned home with a desire to inform, share and promote all things Latin American here in London. As the event organiser for Battersea Spanish, I look forward to welcoming you at our many Spanish and Latin American cultural offerings!
